Bath Avenue Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73117 Charles H. Brewer Jr. passed away at the age of 74 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on June 30, 1948 to Charles Sr. and Lena Brewer in Pasco, Washington. Charles was a proud member of the U.S. Army and served as a medic for 23 years, retiring in 1993. He loved sports and was a fierce competitor, especially in racquetball, which he was an avid player and winner of many tournaments. He was a boxer and a minor league baseball player for a short time. He was a serial entrepreneur which always took him on wild adventures in pursuit of leaving a legacy of wealth for his family which he is probably still chasing in Heaven. Charles rarely met a stranger which served him well during his years working with “The Good Guys” at Bob Howard Buick GMC. Charles loved discussing current events, politics, history and religion. He was a man of few words but had an extensive vocabulary which he enjoyed putting onto paper while journaling and writing poetry based on his life’s journey. He was loved by many and he had love for all. He displayed his love through encouraging words and by providing sound advice based on avoiding some of his own experiences and misadventures. A few of his favorite sayings were: "let me be your road map", "oh my stars" and "fair to middlin". Charles is survived by his wife Gena Garner-Brewer; his children, Margaret Denice Brewer, Erika Brewer, Ricky Nobles (wife Debbie), Adonis Brewer (wife Jessi), Isis Brewer (wife Brandi), Sherlyn Mitchell (husband Reuben), Dakota Brewer, and Madison Brewer; siblings Carolina D. Brewer-Nuckols; Jeremiah D. Brewer (wife Marilyn) and Timothy E. Brewer (wife Nancy). 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Charles is preceded in death by his mother, father, son Charles H. Brewer lll and niece Elena M. Ford. In 2007 Charles became a loyal and faithful member of Victory Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Coby. He loved his church and one could always find him in the Word. Charles found great wisdom and comfort in the Book of Psalms. Psalm 62:1-2 1 Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. 2 Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I will never be shaken. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Charles’s name to Victory Temple Church of God in Christ or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
